That organ is hellishly out of tune! Problems can arise when using organs in concert halls. The instrument is generally tuned in an empty hall at room temperature. Then for the actual concert you add an entire symphony orchestra, a large choir and a capacity audience - each individual person raising the temperature little by little - and the thousands of pipes so carefully prepared by the tuner expand in the heat and the tuning goes up the spout - or down actually, because the heat flattens the pitch - as in this case. Poor Lenny. With his absolute pitch it must have been a nightmare!!

Very good concert, but balance and EQ is not quite all right badly. Left canal is poor and too much double bass. Gould liked this interpretation.

Mr. Janis had transitioned in March 2024 ...he sufferd for years with a very crippling form of Arthritis which unfortunately shorted his stellar career..Mr. Janis played most of the time in pain...he did however continue to teach...Bryon Janis to me personally was a Titan...as person and performer...Listen to him performing the RACHMANINOFF Concerto (I believe in C) with Dorati conducting the Minneapolis Orchestra! Indeed amazing...or the Schumann piano concerto...Brilliant....we are indeed quite fortune to have these Videos....
